Solveig

Solveig, March 6, 2001

My dear Mother, Solveig Ann-Margret Gabriella Nelsson, (nee Ringheim), passed away on March 6th, 2001, much to the sorrow of her extended family and countless friends.

As an expatriate I have lived in fear of receiving that long-distance call relaying such sad news, and it was my brother Staffan who called me in Hongkong on March 7th to tell me what had happened the night before in Uppsala, Sweden.

We all took comfort from the fact that she went as she had always wished, at home, in her own bed, in the arms of her beloved husband Daniel. I will always be grateful for the fact that I had visited Mother and Father just weeks before this sad day. We had a lovely weekend together in Uppsala just after I had attended the annual Midem music industry convention in Cannes, France at the end of January.

My Mother came from a very talented family of artists and musicians and she sang and played the piano as well as painted, although her work as a missionary, pastor’s wife, mother and grandmother prevented her from spending very much time on these activities.

After a long a fruitful life, she deserves the rest she now enjoys with God.
