Ming

I brought the concept of MING to EMI in 1973….. my plan was to write and produce, not to be a member of the group. In their infinite wisdom, they insisted that I front the band. Although this completely destroyed my original idea of an all-Oriental band dressed in Chinese style, but singing in English, I went along with it. We had several hits in Hongkong and around Asia (most notably in Thailand with REASONS WHY and Malaysia with THIS TIME TOMORROW) between 1973 and 1976. When the three-year contract was up I dissolved the group as I had promised myself to switch to behind-the-scenes work at the age of 30.
